The objective of the study was to describe the social representations that the Lima police have about the trans population. For this purpose, a qualitative study of thematic analysis design was developed, in which seven interviews were conducted to collect the information. The main results show that the prominent social representations in the police are the ignorance of adversities they face, the recognition of the fragile social position and the misinformed beliefs about sexuality of the trans population. With the findings, it is concluded that the police have social representations about this community that influence and even limit the treatment they offer them, due to the lack of information, conservative training, stereotypes and little familiarity with the population.
