This research work provides empirical evidence on the impact of changes in the monetary policy of the United States Federal Reserve on the amount of capital inflows in emerging economies. Using a sample of developing countries between the years 2000 and 2019, it is possible to establish that capital inflows from emerging economies are considerably reduced in those periods where there was a cut in monetary expansion by the US Federal Reserve. increasing the probability of occurrence of episodes of abrupt reversal of capital inflows. This empirical finding is highly relevant due to the current economic context where variations in the monetary policy of the Federal Reserve are highly probable, in addition to the importance of capital inflows in economic growth. Likewise, based on these results, a series of economic policy recommendations are established.
