In this, an analysis is carried out on the factors that influence discrimination against women gamers. For this, 3 categories have been defined that are structured from the general to the particular. First, we find the industry led by and for men, in which it is revealed that the industry in developers, and video game creators is predominantly made up of men. Second, there is the stereotyped representation of female characters in video games, in which it is evidenced that these characters are clearly stereotyped and sexualized. Finally, and on which the research is focused, is the underestimation and contempt towards women gamers, in which the different types of harassment and violence suffered by women within online video game games are detailed by the simple fact of being women. For this, the general research question is: What factors influence discrimination against women gamers in Peru? From this, after 3 specific questions, they are: In what way is it perceived that the gaming industry is run by and for men? How are female characters stereotyped and sexualized in video games? Why is the performance of Peruvian women in video games underestimated? Finally, the methodology proposed for this study is of an interpretive paradigm with a qualitative approach, in which a phenomenological study will be carried out that has as its main instrument semi-structured interviews with female gamers from Peru.
