The objective is to determine the association between family relationships and assertiveness in high school students from two state schools in San Juan de Lurigancho district, province and department of Lima. The sample consisted of 260 students from 1st to 5th year of secondary school, 46% male and 54% female, whose ages ranged from 12 to 17 years. The instruments used were the Family Relations Questionnaire, product of the adaptation of the Family Environment Scale of Moos et al., (1995), carried out by Valdés et al., (2012), and the Self-report of Assertive Behavior (ADCA-1) of García and Magáz (2011). The research is correlational descriptive and comparative. Regarding the results, a moderate relationship was found between conflict and self-assertiveness and, at a comparative level, statistically significant differences were found according to sex, age and academic grade. The results are analyzed from the existing literature.
