The objective of this research article was to relate parental competencies with the behavior and social competence of pre-school boys and girls in Metropolitan Lima. This was a quantitative, non-experimental, and correlational study. The instruments presented adequate reliability and construct validity. The participation of 150 parents of preschool-age children was applied to the scale of Perceived Parental Competencies, Parent Versions (CPP-P) and the Scale for Evaluation of Behavior and Social Competency, Preschool Edition (SCBE-30). The results were obtained by means of a factorial analysis, the most pertinent elements of each scale were analyzed. Obtaining a significant positive correlation of low magnitude between the dimensions of the variables Aggressive Behavior and Assumption of the Parental Role. Therefore, it has been determined that the more aggressive attitudes perceived by the parents of their children, the greater the dedication on the part of the parents. It was concluded that there is no significant relationship between parental competencies, behavior and social competence perceived by parents of preschool children. What can be related to environmental, social and cultural factors.
