In this study, the causes of copper losses were investigated in an electric conductor manufacturing company located in the city of Lima, Peru. This problem caused the production costs to increase because more raw material was needed than necessary. In addition, the excessive growth of the company generated that the areas are not properly planned and there are extensive routes in production, increasing production time and material handling. Similarly, the company did not have adequate controls to measure the amount of copper used in each area, so when selling the retailer there was a loss of approximately 30%. The proposed solutions were the distribution of the plant that will be transferred to the Lurin district in 2020, the implementation of the 5S and the incorporation of production controls in all areas of the company. For this, a simulation was performed in the Arena software where the results obtained were that the production time was reduced by 16%. Similarly, the economic validation showed that the proposed proposals generate a favorable return on investment for the company.
