International trade presents many advantages, which are, in the first place, the promotion of the diversification of the exportable offer. Significantly, the insertion of local products in new markets means greater economic growth. Undoubtedly, the implementation of the Peru - United States Free Trade Agreement in 2009 consolidated free access for agricultural products. For this, the trade policy instrument such as the present Free Trade Agreements allowed Peru commercial access to one of the largest markets in the world. The importance of free trade and access for agricultural products is highlighted, which brings Peru closer to different world production chains and, in this way, “The great opportunity for Agriculture” is presented. This is certified and promoted by the agribusiness sector and public sector institutions with their free trade legitimation mechanisms that give support and access to implement its operation. The objective of this investigation is to analyze the commercial factors that influenced exports under tariff heading 20.05.99.1000, prepared or preserved artichokes, during the years 2008 - 2019, within the framework of the Peru-United States FTA. For this, it is used a mixt research approach. On the one hand, it is used a qualitative approach, in which the influence of the Peru-United States Free Trade Agreement and the certification systems are analyzed as factors that influenced the flow of exports of canned artichokes. On the other hand, the causal and correlational quantitative approach is used using econometric techniques based on time series with monthly information from 2008 to 2019. The findings of this research show that the variation in exports of canned artichokes is mainly due to the signing of the Peru-United States FTA trade agreement, the certification systems and determinants of the international market such as the demand for the product by the United States and its national production.
