The objective of the research is to optimize the levels of pedestrian service at the intersection of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega and Bolivia avenues due to its high incidence of pedestrians. Performing a theoretical and field analysis, following procedures standardized by the Highway Capacity Manual 2010 (HCM 2010) and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP report 562). The data was collected in the month of September of the year 2019; making a vehicle and pedestrian count for 3 days of the same week; 14 hours per day. Topographic survey was done to describe the geometry of the place and to take inventory of the dimensions of tracks, width of corners, width of pedestrian crossings, traffic lights times, as well as the existing horizontal and vertical signage. With the data obtained in the field, the level of vehicular and pedestrian service (analysis of pedestrian crossings and corners) was calculated to identify the current state of the intersection under study. The level of vehicle service obtained is F, for pedestrian crossings the level of service obtained is F and for the study of corners the level of service obtained is A, according to the HCM 2010. Identify the improvements that allow optimizing the level of service pedestrian. As a solution measure, a pedestrian crossing in the “X” form is implemented, modifications in the pedestrian recesses with suitable slopes and pedestrian protection posts, which will allow greater fluidity and pedestrian safety at the intersection analyzed.
