Objective: To assess whether social determinants are associated with the use of reversible long-term contraceptive methods (LARC) in Peruvian women, using a nationally representative sample in 2016. Methods: Secondary analytical cross-sectional study of the Demographic and Family Health Survey (ENDES) 2016. Our population was 17,969 women of childbearing age (15 to 35 years), sexually active. The main variable was the current use of an intrauterine implant or device (yes / no), and the social determinants were socioeconomic level, educational level, geographic area, language and region. We calculate raw and adjusted prevalence ratios using Poisson regression. Results: The prevalence of LARC use life was 3.6%; 1.9% used IUD and 1.7%, implant. In the multivariate analysis, it was found that the prevalence of LARC use in poorer women is 57% lower than the prevalence of LARC use in the highest socioeconomic position [RPa: 0.43; 95% CI: 0.23 to 0.75]. The prevalence of LARC use in women with a higher educational level is 64% more than in women with primary education (RPa: 0.36; 95% CI: 0.24 to 0.55). Conclusion: The prevalence of LARC use in women of childbearing age with low socioeconomic status is lower compared to the prevalence of LARC use in women with a better socioeconomic position. Educational level and rurality were also associated.
