Objective: Compare the characteristics of tuberculosis disease and personal characteristics among health personnel and general population at the national level in the years 2013 - 2017. Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study, using the national database of the Epidemiological Surveillance of Tuberculosis of the National Center for Epidemiology, Prevention and Control of Diseases, from 2013 and 2017. Results: A total of 103,448 patients with tuberculosis were identified nationwide. 63.08% of the total cases of tuberculosis are male. However, in the population that constitutes health personnel 63.73% of the cases are female. Likewise, it is evident that the notification rate per 100,000 inhabitants is higher in health personnel compared to the general population. At the national level, in 2014 it is observed that for every 100,000 inhabitants of the Peruvian people, a total of 79.1 new cases of tuberculosis were reported, in contrast in 2017, 35.5 new cases of tuberculosis per 100,000 inhabitants were reported. For the antecedent variable of contacts of sensitive TB, tuberculosis (TB) MDR and TB XDR, health personnel have a higher notificate percentage compared to the general population. For the HIV test, the general population presented a higher percentage of positive tests compared to health personnel (2.87% health personnel, 4.97% general population). Conclusions: There are important differences in personal characteristics and tuberculosis disease between health personnel and the general population.
