Objective: to determine if the increased platelet volume is associated with dyslipidemia in adults at Hospital I Virú between january and september 2020. Material and Methods: an analytical, observational, sectional, cross-sectional, retrospective study was carried out. The study population consisted of 178 patients according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria, divided into two groups: with or without dyslipidemias; the prevalence ratio and the chi square test were calculated. Results: in the bivariate analysis, age, abdominal circunference, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and obesity are factors associated with dyslipidemia (p <0.05); the frequency of dyslipidemias in patients with increased platelet volume was 61%; the frequency of dyslipidemia in patients with normal platelet volume was 36%; the increased platelet volume is a factor associated with dyslipidemia with a prevalence ratio of 1.71 which was significant (p <0.05); In the multivariate analysis, the variables increased platelet volume, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and arterial hypertension were identified as factors associated with dyslipidemia (p <0.05). Conclusions: the increased platelet volume is associated with dyslipidemia in adults at Hospital I Virú between january and september 2020.
