Determine the relationship between family functionality and the presence of early childhood caries in preschoolers. Material and methods: The study was cross-sectional observational, the sample was comprised of 117 preschool students from the I.E No. 80014 Juan Pablo II who studied in the year 2023. Two instruments were used, a clinical record to measure the index of ceod and the FF-SIL Family Functioning test. The information collected was entered and processed using the statistical program IBM SPSS STATISTICS Version 26. The results were presented in the form of single and double entry tables. In addition, Pearson or Spearman correlation was used to evaluate the degree of association between the variables. Results: This study indicates that family functionality has no relationship with early childhood caries (p= 0.290). There is also no relationship according to sex (p= 0.691, p= 0.195). At the ages of 3 and 4 years there is no significant relationship between family functionality and early childhood caries, while at the age of 5 years a significant relationship is found (p=0.017). Depending on the type of family, no relationship is found either. Conclusions: There is no relationship between the level of family functionality and the presence of early childhood caries, nor is there a relationship according to sex, type of family and age only in 5 years.
