Objective: Establish the different risk agents involved in bladder cancer in adult patients treated in the urology service of the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital, EsSalud - Trujillo. Methodology: An analytical, observational, retrospective, case-control design was carried out on a population of 326 adult patients treated in the urology service of the HVLE, chosen through a simple probabilistic selection. The sampling unit was the medical records selected through selection criteria established in the study, collecting 163 cases and 163 controls through a data collection form adapted for the research. After preparing the database, in the analysis, the descriptive statistics were processed using the SPSS V26.0 statistical program and for the analytical statistics, logistic regression and Pearson's Chi-square were used. Results: 72.4% of patients with bladder cancer are men, with a median diagnosis of 70 years. Smoking [OR: 4.38; CI: 95%; p < 0.001] and occupational exposure [OR: 3.03; CI: 95%; p < 0.001] were significantly associated with bladder cancer. For its part, recurrent UTIs showed a significant association with bladder cancer in the multivariate analysis [OR: 3.6; CI: 95%; p < 0.001]. However, obesity [OR: 1.64; CI: 95%; p = 0.06] and family history of bladder cancer [OR: 2.78; CI: 95%; p = 0.34] did not reveal a significant association with bladder cancer. Conclusions: Tobacco consumption and occupational exposure represented the risk agents most contributing to bladder cancer, however recurrent UTIs confer a considerable risk of suffering from this disease. Obesity and a family history of bladder cancer are not a risk factor for this disease
