Job performance is linked to job satisfaction and the professional who is satisfied is more committed to their work and their company because their needs are fully covered. Therefore, this job satisfaction is directly related to the satisfaction of needs, which in turn is based on satisfaction with the chosen profession. Now to close the circle of a good engineering performance you need a professional who has had a good academic performance since it is at the university where he gets all the engineering knowledge throughout his university career. It is for this reason that the present investigation has as objective to determine the relation that exists between the academic performance and the satisfaction of the chosen profession of the students of the I and III cycle, of the professional school of materials engineering - National University of Trujillo. The methodology that was applied was descriptive and the design was correlational. The sample consisted of 51 students. To determine the level of satisfaction, the instrument called Satisfaction Inventory was applied with the chosen profession, created by Jesahel Vildoso Colque in 1998. To obtain information on the academic performance of the students of the I and III cycle, the subjects with their respective weighted averages were taken into account, corresponding to the academic semester 2018 - 01. The statistical program used was the SPSS 25 where we used the instrument Spearman correlation coefficient (Spearman's Rho), obtaining as a result (Rho = 0.030) and a level of significance of 0.834 this data led us to the conclusion that there is no relationship positive between both variables.
