Objective: To determine if advanced maternal age is an independent risk factor for recurrent miscarriage. Material and Methods: An observational, retrospective, analytical study was carried out, for which a sample size was obtained of 344 people whose ages fluctuated between 25 and 45 years (86 cases and 258 controls), attended at the Belen Hospital of Trujillo between 2013 - 2018, which were chosen randomly, the statistical analysis included the Chi square test and a value of p <0.05 was considered statistically significant, the odds ratio of the predictor factor in the study was calculated. Results: It was found that 64% of the women with recurrent miscarriage (RM) had advanced age and 31% of the controls had advanced age, OR = 4.020, 95% CI (2.405 - 6.719), p=0.000; the most frequent gestational week in which the RM occurred was week 19, with an average of 13 ± 4, the average age of the cases with advanced age in the last successful gestation was: 30.2 ± 4.3 years; while in those cases without advanced age the average was 27 ± 4 years, the percentage of women with two miscarriages was 78%, 20% with 3 and only 2% had 4. Conclusions: Advanced maternal age is a risk factor for recurrent miscarriage, so counseling programs for women of childbearing age should be implemented in order to report on the risk of recurrent miscarriage, which represents delaying pregnancy.
