The present quasi-experimental study had the objective of demonstrating the effect of phacoemulsification on the color vision of patients undergoing cataract surgery at the JSU Regional Institute of Ophthalmology during the period April–June 2023. In accordance with the purpose, 35 older adult volunteers with age-related cataracts who were scheduled for phacoemulsification surgery were evaluated before and after the intervention with the Farnsworth Munsell Test in digital version. The results obtained were: highly significant differences between the pre-test and both post-tests, likewise, there is a difference between post-test 1 and post-test 2. It was also observed that, before Phacoemulsification, 25.7% of patients presented a level of discrimination (NDC), however, after the intervention, 100% were located in a normal NDC. Finally, it was found that in all patients, there was an increase in the level of color discrimination after treatment. In addition to this, a relationship was found with the levels of discrimination, with the group from 60 to 69 years old being the one most associated with normal levels of discrimination, where, as age increases, the level of visual discrimination of color increases; however, after phacoemulsification, regardless of age, all patients presented a normal level of discrimination. Therefore, it is concluded that cataract in older adults is related to the significant deterioration of color vision since, as age increases, there are low levels of discrimination; however, with post-phacoemulsification surgery, the improvement is total. Regardless of age. Furthermore, phacoemulsification effectively restored the color vision of the operating patients, achieving good levels of color discrimination post-intervention
