The present study seeks to determine carotid intima-media thickness in patients with HIV receiving antiretroviral treatment with atazanavir, efavirenz or raltegravir for 36 months, making use of ultrasound, to evidence atherosclerotic disease, considering that carotid intima-media thickness is a useful indicator for the prevention of cardiovascular events in these patients, since cardiovascular disease today is a leading cause of death in these patients. Aim: To determine whether there is a difference in carotid intima-media thickness in patients with HIV receiving antiretroviral treatment with atazanavir, efavirenz or raltegravir in EsSalud Trujillo. Methods: Observational, analytical, cross-sectional study. Carotid ultrasonography was performed on the study participants to determine the carotid intima-media thickness and thus obtain the average of each group to which they belonged with their respective standard deviation. Finally, an analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed. Results: A total of 22 patients participated, distributed as follows: 11 patients for the TDF/FTC/EFV group, 5 for the TDF/FTC/ATV group and 6 for the TDF/FTC/RAL group. Then an average carotid intima-media thickness of 0.8400 for TDF/FTC/EFV, 0.8980 for TDF/FTC/ATV and 0.8050 for TDF/FTC/RAL was obtained. Finally, when comparing the three groups, no significant difference was found between their carotid intima-media thickness averages (p > 0.05). However, in all three groups there was a marked thickening of the carotid intima media complex, with the ATV group showing the greatest thicknes
