Objective: To demonstrate whether glycosylated hemoglobin levels are a predictor of atrial fibrillation in diabetic patients treated at the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital during the period 2019-2022. Materials and Methods: We conducted a retrospective observational and analytical case-control study. Our sample consisted of diabetic patients divided into: 45 diabetic patients with atrial fibrillation (case group) and 90 patients without atrial fibrillation (control group) who met the selection criteria. Results: The mean age of diabetic patients with AF was 71.1 and those without AF was 56.4, a statistically significant association was found between age and the presence of AF. The risk of having AF was 2.36 times higher in the male sex compared to the female sex (p<0.05). The risk of having AF is 4.79 times higher in patients with arterial hypertension compared to patients without this pathology (p<0.05). Having a value <7% of glycosylated hemoglobin is 2.48 times higher risk of developing AF in diabetic patients. A value of 7-9% of glycosylated hemoglobin is 4.64 times higher risk of presenting AF in diabetic patients, having a value of HbA1c >9% is 4.84 times higher risk of presenting AF in diabetic patients. Conclusions: The level of glycosylated hemoglobin is a predictor of Atrial Fibrillation
