To determine if the difference between hematocrit and serum albumin is a predictor of severity in pregnant women with preeclampsia in HBT. Material and methods: A cross-sectional retrospective cross-sectional study was carried out in which 133 pregnant women record sheets were included, according to selection criteria which were divided into 3 groups: normotensive, mild preeclampsia and severe preeclampsia; Calculating the area under the curve of the difference of hematocrit and serum albumin. Results: The frequency of inadequate prenatal control and pregestational obesity was significantly higher in the group of pregnant women with severe preeclampsia than in pregnant women with mild preeclampsia or without preeclampsia. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of the difference between hematocrit and serum albumin as a predictor of preeclampsia in pregnant women was 80%; 81%; 92% and 61% respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of the difference between hematocrit and serum albumin as a predictor of mild preeclampsia in pregnant women was 65%; 81%; 83% and 63% respectively. The sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of the difference between hematocrit and serum albumin as a predictor of severe preeclampsia in pregnant women was 98%; 35%; 56% and 95% respectively. The prognostic accuracy of the difference between hematocrit and serum albumin as a predictor of severe preeclampsia in pregnant women was 0.72 corresponding to an intermediate accuracy.
