pacientes preseniles.
To demonstrate that dyslipidemia is a risk factor for cataract Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective study of cases and controls was carried out. The study population consisted of 168 patients according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria divided into two groups: 56 patients (cases) with or 112 without cataracts (controls), the odds ratio and chi square test were calculated. Results: The proportion of dyslipidemia in patients with cataract was 39%. The proportion of dyslipidemia in patients without cataract was 17%. Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for cataract with an odds ratio of 3.16 which was significant (p <0.05). In the multivariate analysis, the significance of the risk for the variables dyslipidemia, arterial hypertension, obesity, osteoarthritis and age greater than 60 years in the study in relation to the onset of the cataract outcome is verified. Conclusions: Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for cataract
