The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between Dysfunctional Families and Academic Performance in first year students of the Technical School of Professional Police Training of Trujillo in the year 2022. The population consisted of 150 first year students, organized in 5 classrooms of the Technical School of Professional Training of the PNP in the City of Trujillo. This population is between 18 and 23 years old on average. Having a correlational design. For data collection, the Family APGAR Scale (1978), adapted by Santos (2018) and the Record of Academic Performance Results by Specialties were used. It was obtained as a result that there is a highly significant correlation (p<.01), negative, in addition, the Moderate Dysfunction level of Family Dysfunctionality and its dimensions predominates, with percentages fluctuating between 41.3% and 68.7%, likewise, the Regular level of Academic Performance predominates, represented by 56. In addition, there is a highly significant correlation (p<.01), negative, between Academic Performance and the dimensions of Family Dysfunctionality (Adaptability, Association, Social, Development, Resolution) of the families of the first-year students of the Technical School of Professional Police Training of Trujillo
