Objective: Establish the difference between electrocautery and silver nitrate in the control of spontaneous anterior epistaxis in children under 18 years of age at the Otolaryngology consultation at the Albrecht Hospital in Trujillo. Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, retrospective cohort study was carried out. The study population consisted of 115 patients under 18 years of age who presented spontaneous anterior epistaxis who were seen in the outpatient clinic by the otorhinolaryngology service in 2018 according to established inclusion and exclusion criteria, distributed in two groups: exposed to electrocautery or silver nitrate. Results: There were no significant differences with respect to the mean age between patients with anterior epistaxis exposed to electrocautery or silver nitrate (p> 0.05). No significant differences were observed regarding the control of bleeding in the patients with epistaxis according to gender distribution or in the group using electrocautery, nor in the group using silver nitrate (p> 0.05). No significant differences were observed in the frequency of bleeding control when comparing patients exposed to electrocautery or silver nitrate (p> 0.05). Conclusions: There is no difference in the control of anterior epistaxis between electrocautery versus silver nitrate in children under 18 years of age at Hospital Albrecht de Trujillo.
