Objective: To determine if there is a relationship between the serum levels of CA 125 and the degree of differentiation in Ovarian Malignant Epithelial Tumors in the Victor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in Trujillo during the period 2008 - 2018. Material and Methods: Observational, Retrospective, Correlate, Analytical Study in 73 patients with some type of Ovarian Malignant Epithelial Tumor. The Pearson Chi-square test was applied to establish the relationship between CA 125 and the degree of differentiation of malignant ovarian epithelial tumors. Results: Of 37% of patients who qualify in G1, 8.2% had serum levels of CA 125 <35 U / ml and 28.8% had CA125 values ≥ 35 U / ml. Of 39.7% of patients who qualify in G2, 4.1% had serum levels of CA 125 <35 U / ml and 35.6% had CA125 values ≥ 35 U / ml. Of 23.3% of patients who qualify in G3, 23.3% had CA125 values ≥35 U / ml. There are sufficient reasons at the level of 5% (p <0.05) to affirm that the serum levels of CA 125 are not related to the degree of differentiation in Ovarian Malignant Epithelial Tumors in the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in Trujillo. This statement is given with certainty having verified the requirements of being significant to Pearson's Chi-square test (p = 0.085) Conclusion: Serum levels of CA 125 are not related to the degree of differentiation in malignant ovarian epithelial tumors, which suggests that high levels of this glycoprotein are not associated with lesions of more aggressive biological behavior Recommendation: According to the results obtained in the present study, it is not recommended to use as an initial prognostic marker to evaluate the degree of differentiation in patients diagnosed with malignant ovarian epithelial tumors.
