Objective: To identify the degree of anemia is a risk factor for preterm birth in primigravidas at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital from January 2017 to December 2023. Material and methods: An analytical, longitudinal case-control study was carried out in which 192 primigravidas were included, according to selection criteria which were divided according to the presence or not of preterm birth, the chi square was calculated. and the odds ratio statistician. Results: No significant differences were observed for the variables age group, educational level and pregestational body mass index between preterm and term pregnant women (p>0.05). Anemia as a risk factor for preterm birth in primigravidas had an odds ratio of 3.74, which was significant (p<0.05); mild anemia as a risk factor for preterm birth in primigravidas had an odds ratio of 2.94, which was significant (p<0.05), moderate anemia as a risk factor for preterm birth in primigravidas had an odds ratio of 8.83, which was significant (p<0.05). Conclusion: Mild and moderate degrees of anemia are risk factors for preterm birth in primigravidas at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital from January 2017 to December 2023
