The main objective of this study is to determine the level of relationship of social media in the development of social skills of high school students of a private educational institution in Trujillo. The research that has been developed is of a basic and correlational descriptive type, with a correlational descriptive design. For data collection, a 74 items questionnaire was applied, consisting of the ARS questionnaire and Arnold Goldstein's Social Skills Scale. The instrument was applied to a sample of 210 high school students of the ““Alejandro Deustua““ Private Educational Institution. The main conclusion was obtained by means of the chi- square hypothesis test, that there is no highly significant relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable. Likewise, it was obtained that the level of use of social networks in high school students of the private educational institution of Trujillo ““Alejandro Deustua““ is high. Also, it was identified that the advanced social skills of the high school students in this study are the most developed, while the first skills are the least developed. Finally, it was distinguished that the participants of the research presented a high degree of frequency of use of social media
