The main objective of this thesis is to determine the surface condition of the flexible pavement between km 80+000 and km 90+000 of the Trujillo – Huamachuco highway, by applying the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) method based on ASTM D6433-03. The kilometers evaluated are part of the DV segment. Otuzco – Shorey, this road currently has many deficiencies in the rolling surface, mainly between km 80 000 and km 90 000. As a procedure of the method, and having defined the measurements and number of sample units to be evaluated, we proceeded to carry out the field work, in which we walked the section to identify and record the existing faults according to their type, quantity and severity. We then digitized the records and proceeded to calculate the PCI values and pavement classification, for each sample unit, rail and the entire section. We obtained that the PCI value of the evaluated leg is equal to 53, qualifying with a regular surface condition. In addition, we found that the left lane is the most worn lane, with a PCI value equal to 43 in the regular rating range, and the right lane, in better condition, has a PCI value of 64 in good condition. We also determine that the rutting type fault is the most influential in the results. Finally, depending on the PCI of each sample unit, we present an intervention proposal grid, where we sectorize in both lanes the treatments to be executed according to the type of maintenance required.
