In order to determine whether non-adherence to the National Bronchiolitis Guide is associated with a longer hospital stay in infants, an observational, retrospective study was conducted with a cross-sectional design in 120 infants with bronchiolitis treated at the Eleazar Guzmán Barrón Hospital from Chimbote from January 2017 to December 2018. Infants with heart disease, Down syndrome, severe anemia and complications with SOB and / or pneumonia were excluded. Four or more days were considered as a prolonged hospital stay, variables such as the age of the infant, sex and the severity of bronchiolitis were also evaluated. As a statistical technique, D5the univariate analysis was ¿ used calculating the odds ratio statistic, its 95% CI and the chi-square test, the multivariate binary logistic regression analysis was also used, the software used was the SPSS version 25. It was found that 45 (37.5%) were female and 75 (62.5%) were male; The predominant age group was the youngest of 6 months with 85 (70.8%) of infants. The cases of prolonged hospital stay were 65 (54.2%) and 55 (45.8%) with less than 4 days; Non-adherence to treatment was presented in 85 (70.8%) and 35 (29.2%) of adherence to treatment. The univariate and multivariate analysis reported that non-adherence is a risk factor with odds ratio of 2.67 and p value of 0.016 for the univariate and 0.018 for Wald statistic of the multivariate analysis and the probability of prolonged hospital stay when there is no adherence. at treatment it is 61.18%. It is concluded that non-adherence to the clinical guide of bronchiolitis is a risk factor for a prolonged hospital stay.
