OBJECTIVE: To study the association between comorbidities as a predictor of mortality in patients who died from COVID-19, Piura 2020. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Observational, analytical-cross-sectional, retrospective study with secondary data collection through collection by data collection sheet through sample calculation. RESULTS: The distribution according to the sex of the patient was 96 records for each one, the average for the age of the participants was 50.37ª; All the patients detected a Body Mass Index (BMI) greater than 25, the presence of Arterial Hypertension was present in 52.08% and in the association with mortality they were: male (p: 0.03); age range between 46 to 60 years (p values between 0.001 to 0.04); Days of hospitalization greater than 20 days (p: 0.03) and in comorbidities: Arterial Hypertension (p: 0.04), Diabetes Mellitus 2 (p: 0.04), Hypercholesterolemia (p: 0.01), Body Mass Index greater than 25 (p:0.001) and presence of fibrosis (p:0.05). CONCLUSION: There is an association between the presence of comorbidities and the presence of mortality in patients hospitalized for COVID-19 in Piura during the year 2020
