To determine the antibacterial and antifungal effect in vitro of the ethanolic extract of Nasturtium officinale on Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans. Material and Method: The concentrations of 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% of ethanolic extract of Nasturtium officinale were used. As positive controls Chlorhexidine for Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212TM and Nystatin for Candida albicans ATCC 10231TM were included. Plates were used with Muller-Hinton Agar for Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212TM and Dextrose Sabouraud Agar for Candida albicans ATCC 10231TM. To evaluate the antibacterial and antifungal effect, the agar wells method was used. The reading was carried out at 24 hours by visual inspection of each plate. The measurement was carried out by taking the recording in millimeters of the growth inhibition halos of the microorganism with a vernier caliper. Results: The mean diameter of the growth inhibition halo of Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212TM was 22.17 mm (20%), 23.08 mm (40%), 26.33 mm (60%), 28.58 mm (80%), 28.92 mm (100%) and chlorhexidine was 23 mm. The mean diameter of the growth inhibition halo of Candida albicans ATCC 10231TM was 10 mm (20%), 10.17 mm (40%), 10.33 mm (60%), 10.42 mm (80%), 13.92 mm (100%) and Nystatin was 19 mm. Conclusions: The ethanolic extract of Nasturtium officinale has antibacterial and antifungal effect in vitro on Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212TM and Candida albicans ATCC 10231TM
