Determine the effectiveness of early versus delayed laparoscopic cholecystectomy in acute cholecystitis in hospitals in the city of Piura between the years 2018 to 2020. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Study with an observational, analytical and comparative design of all patients operated on with laparoscopic cholecystectomy for acute cholecystitis in the surgical center area, at the Santa Rosa, Jorge Reategui Delgado and José Cayetano Heredia Hospitals through the use of the Excel platform to data collection and its association with a significance of p<0.05 for the corresponding variables; with a record of the data that will be recorded in the corresponding collection sheets using the SPSS V:23 statistical package. RESULTS: For each type of procedure, a total of 75 valid records were obtained. In immediate cholecystectomy, a mean age of 51.24 years was recorded, compared to 52.01 years for the delayed procedure. In early cholecystectomy, it was identified that 42 patients underwent surgery within an operative range of 1 to 3 hours, constituting 28% of the overall evaluated total. Late interventions were associated with a hospital stay exceeding 3 days, leading to a statistically significant association with a p-value of 0.05, Odds Ratio: 2.13. CONCLUSION: The process of immediate cholecystectomy is associated with lower efficacy versus delayed cholecystectomy.
