The present descriptive correlational research was developed in order to determine the relationship between the Burnout syndrome and the coping strategies of nurses who work in the emergency service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in Trujillo in 2019. The sample was no probabilistic with 36 nurses, corresponding to the total population. The survey technique was applied with a questionnaire that assesses the Burnout Syndrome known as the Maslach Burnout Inventory, with a reliability result according to the Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of α = 0.980 and for the coping strategy the COPE 28 was used with an α = 0.965. The study concludes The relationship between the variables is inverse, that is, at a high level of Burnout syndrome, an inadequate application of coping strategies occurs. There is a majority group of 55.6% of nurses who presented mid-level Burnout syndrome and at the same time inadequate coping strategies; Likewise, 27.8% presented Burnout syndrome of a low level and at the same time an adequate level in coping strategies
