The purpose of this work is to determine the prevalence of Enamel development defects in premature children who attend the Metropolitan Primary Care Center III - EsSalud La Libertad, 2018. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The present prospective, cross-sectional, descriptive and observational work was carried out in the Center of Primary Care III Metropolitan- EsSalud and included a total of 88 children 6 to 12 months, selecting the sample in a non-probabilistic way for convenience. The presence of enamel development defects was evaluated with the DDE MODIFIED INDEX. To determine the prevalence of enamel development defects, a data collection sheet was used for each patient that was then processed by statistical tables. RESULTS: The study showed a prevalence of enamel development defects of 78%, in which the female sex predominated. When applying the modified Enamel development defect index, it was found that 30% (26) of children have diffuse opacity, 13% (11) have demarcated opacity, 25% (22) hypoplasia, 22% (19) normal and 11% (10) have other defects. CONCLUSION: There is a prevalence of enamel development defects in premature children, according to sex, who attend the Metropolitan Primary Care Center.
