The present research aimed to determine the influence of obstetric psychoprophylaxis in the development of procedural skills of the pregnant woman in labor, at the Elpidio Berovides Pérez Hospital in the province of Otuzco during 2019; using an experimental, prospective, cross-sectional research design with a quantitative approach; having as an instrument an observational clinical record (checklist), which was validated by expert criteria. The population was made up of 121 pregnant women who attended the obstetrics office. The sample consisted of 30 pregnant women who performed obstetric psychoprophylaxis (experimental group) and 30 pregnant women who did not perform obstetric psychoprophylaxis (control group), considering the selection criteria. The results showed that the influence of obstetric psychoprophylaxis on the development of the breathing ability of the pregnant woman during labor was 93.33% carried out deep breathing and 100% performed wheezing during the active phase of labor ; and 76.67% carried out the diaphragmatic push respiration and 60.00% the abdominal push respiration in the expulsive period; In the development of the relaxation ability of the pregnant woman during labor, it was 100.00%, they performed muscle relaxation exercises and adopted relaxation positions; in the development of the ability of self-control of anxiety of the pregnant woman during labor was; that 100.00% showed expressions of confidence and 86.67% showed expressions of security and the duration of the active phase of labor was less than 03 hours with 53.33% in pregnant women who received psychoprophylactic preparation in obstetrics compared to a 46.67% with a time greater than 06 hours in those pregnant women who did not receive psychoprophylactic preparation; while 50.00% of pregnant women who received psychoprophylactic preparation in obstetrics, the expulsive period lasted less than 10 minutes compared to 40.00% lasted less than 10 minutes and between 10 to 30 minutes respectively. It is concluded that obstetric psychoprophylaxis statistically influences the development of procedural skills for breathing, relaxation and self-control during labor.
