To demonstrate that rheumatoid arthritis is a factor associated with dyslipidemia in patients seen in the outpatient clinic of Rheumatology of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital in 2018 and 2019. Methods: An observational, retrospective and analytical study was carried out, with a case-control design, for which a total of 224 corresponding clinical records from the rheumatology service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital were evaluated: 112 with dyslipidemia (cases) and 112 without dyslipidemia (controls), once the individuals in each group were selected, it was sought to demonstrate that rheumatoid arthritis is a factor associated with dyslipidemia. The statistical techniques used were descriptive and the chi square test was used to contrast the hypothesis and the odds ratio as a statistician, the level of significance used was α of 0.05. Results: 224 subjects were evaluated among these 112 subjects with dyslipidemia (cases) and 112 without dyslipidemia (controls). The frequency of dyslipidemia in patients without rheumatoid arthritis was 46%. Determining that Rheumatoid Arthritis is a factor associated with dyslipidemia with an OR of 1.84 with 95% CI (1.08 - 3.14; p = 0.023). In the analysis of the intervening variables of age and sex. The predominant sex was female, 62.5% in cases and 67.9% in controls. The predominant age group was that of 50 to 59 years with 48.2% in the cases and 41.1% in the controls. Finally, the analysis of cholesterol and triglyceride levels in patients with and without Rheumatoid Arthritis shows that HDL cholesterol presents significantly lower values in patients with RA (54.8%) in relation to patients without RA (41. 3%).Conclusion: Rheumatoid arthritis was a factor associated with the occurrence of dyslipidemia in hospitalized patients in the rheumatology service of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital during the years 2018 and 2019.
