Abstract: Objetivo: Determinar si en pacientes adultos sometidos a hernioplastia inguinal
existen factores predictivos clínicos y quirúrgicos asociados al dolor crónico
inguinal.
enfermedad y tiempo operatorio prolongado.
Objective: To determine whether in adult patients undergoing inguinal hernioplasty there are clinical and surgical predictive factors associated with chronic groin pain. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was performed. The study population included adult patients postoperatively treated for inguinal hernia for more than three months at the Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo. A sample size of 130 patients was determined. Clinical and surgical data were collected, and the visual analog scale was applied to assess chronic pain. Statistical analysis was performed using chi-square, Student's t-test and logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of chronic groin pain was 21.54%. Significant associations were found between chronic pain and variables such as female sex, arterial hypertension, body mass index, time of illness and prolonged operative time. Multivariate analysis confirmed that these factors were independently associated with chronic pain. Conclusion: This study revealed that specific clinical and surgical factors are associated with chronic groin pain in postoperative inguinal hernia patients. These findings highlight the importance of identifying and considering these factors in the evaluation and management of these patients to effectively prevent or treat chronic pain
