To identify the lower incidence of early postoperative complications according to the surgical technique of bipolar transurethral prostate resection compared to transvesical prostatic adenomectomy in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia who were treated at the ““Hospital Regional Docente de Trujillo““ during January 2018 - December 2019. Materials and Methods: An observational, analytical, retrospective cohort design study was performed. The study population was 141 post-operated patients of benign prostatic hyperplasia, of which 111 used the surgical technique of transvesical prostatic adenomectomy and 30 by bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate that met the selection criteria. Results: When comparing both surgical techniques, we found that the postoperative complication rate of pain did not show a significant difference according to the surgical technique used (p > 0.05); the same can be affirmed with the complication of hematuria, hemoglobin variation and the presence of UTI (p > 0.05). However, the hospital stay in its three times (1-2 days, 3-4 days and ≥ 5 days) shows a significant difference favorable to TURP-B technique with a pvalue < 0.05 as well as the catheterization time in its three times (≤ 4 days, 5-6 and ≥ 7 days) which presents better results for TURP-B technique in comparison to Transvesical Prostatic Adenomectomy (p < 0.05). Conclusions: Bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate technique presents a lower rate of complications in terms of probing time and hospital stay compared to transvesical prostatic adenomectomy.
