Objective: To understand the relationship between ergonomics and musculoskeletal complications associated with the delivery of virtual classes in university students from Piura during the 2020 pandemic. Materials and Methods: An observational, analytical-cross-sectional, prospective study was conducted with a known finite population using primary data collection sheets virtually, employing simple random sampling. The sample included 400 participants from higher education institutions in Piura during the year 2020. Results: It was identified that 56.75% of participants (227) were female. A homogeneous distribution of participants from different educational institutions was proposed, with 100 records for each. The mean age was 24.76 years, ranging from 18 to 33 years. Muscle contracture showed a significant association (p = 0.03) with an adjusted odds ratio (Rpa) of 2.34 (CI 1.78-2.53), while wrist pain also showed an association (p = 0.05) with an Rpa of 1.76 (CI 0.98-1.99). Hip discomfort or pain had a marginally significant association (p = 0.056), and joint pain showed a strong significant association (p = 0.04) with an Rpa of 3.01 (CI 2.65-3.23).Conclusions: A significant association was established between ergonomics and musculoskeletal complications related to virtual classes among university students in Piura during the pandemic period
