The present descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional investigation, whose purpose was to determine the relationship that exists between the level of knowledge and self-care practices in hemodialysis patients treated at the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital (HVLE), 2022. The study population was made up of 90 patients, of which a sample of 40 who agreed to participate in the study was determined. The data were collected through two instruments, a questionnaire for the level of knowledge in patients with hemodialysis treatment and a checklist on practices of self care. The following results were obtained: In relation to knowledge, 55.0% of patients receiving hemodialysis therapy present a medium level, 37.5% a high level and 7.5% have a low level; Regarding self-care practices, it was found that 72.5% perform deficient practices, 27.5% regular, and none good self-care practices. To determine the relationship between variables, the Kendall Tau b test was used with the value of: -0.221, and with a level of significance where p = 0.116, therefore it is concluded that there is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge about self-care practices in HVLE hemodialysis patients
