To determine if the severity of acne is a risk factor for anxiety in students of the I.E Santa Rosa - Trujillo. MATERIAL AND METHODS: An analytical, cross-sectional study was carried out in which 236 secondary school students were included, according to selection criteria which were divided according to the presence or absence of severe acne, the chi square and the prevalence ratio statistician. RESULTS: The frequency of age over 15, obesity and paternal absence were significantly higher in the group of patients with severe acne (p<0.05), the frequency of anxiety in adolescent students with severe acne was 16/34 = 47%, the frequency of anxiety in adolescent students with non-severe acne was 37/202 = 18%, the severity of acne is a risk factor for anxiety in students with a prevalence ratio of 3.96 which was significant (p<0.05), in the analysis In the multivariate study, the variables age, obesity, paternal absence, and anxiety were identified as risk factors for severe acne. CONCLUSION: the severity of acne is a risk factor for anxiety in students of the I.E Santa Rosa - Trujillo
