Objective: To determine if anemia, hypoalbuminemia, leukocytosis and shock are predictors of intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma treated at the Hospital Belen de Trujillo during the period 2017 - 2021. Material and methods: An observational, analytical, retrospective, case-control study was carried out, in which a total of 100 patients with open abdominal trauma treated at the Hospital Belen de Trujillo were included, who were divided according to the presence or not of intestinal anastomosis leakage, applying the chi-square statistical test and obtaining the odds ratio, finally a multivariate analysis was performed with those variables with statistical association. Results: Of the total of one hundred patients with open abdominal trauma who underwent exploratory laparotomy and intestinal anastomosis, it was found that 89 patients came from the urban area and likewise a predominance of the etiology of abdominal trauma was evidenced, with 60 patients due to weapon wounds of fire. The mean age for cases and controls was 31.9 +/- 8.5 and 30.3 +/- 7.4 respectively. The male sex predominated in both cases and controls (60% vs 40% and 68% vs 32% respectively). Regarding the intervening variables, there were 6 7 (24%) patients with azotemia, 5 (20%) patients with diabetes mellitus and 6 (24%) patients with obesity. The anemia is a predictor of intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma with an odds ratio of 6.71 which was significant (p<0.05); hypoalbuminemia is a predictor of intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma with an odds ratio of 13.82 which was significant (p<0.05); leukocytosis is a predictor of intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma with an odds ratio of 4.47, which was significant (p<0.05); shock is a predictive factor for intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma, with an odds ratio of 3.35, which was significant (p <0.05), and the multivariate analysis, anemia, hypoalbuminemia, leukocytosis and shock were identified as predictive factors for intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma. Conclusion: Anemia, hypoalbuminemia, leukocytosis and shock are predictors of intestinal anastomosis leakage in patients with open abdominal trauma treated at the Hospital Belen de Trujillo during the period 2017 - 2021.
