To determine that obstetric antecedents are risk factors for developing POP at Hospital I La Esperanza. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Retrospective, observational study of the Case and Control type, carried out in the Gynecology service of Hospital I La Esperanza, which included a total of 154 female patients, who were divided into 2 groups: 77 patients with a diagnosis of POP and 77 patients without a diagnosis of POP. RESULTS: Among the obstetric antecedents for the development of POP were: Multiparity with an OR: 5.7 and (p <0.01); also fetal macrosomia with an OR: 2.6 years (p <0.05); Likewise, vaginal delivery with an OR: 8.2 and (p <0.01) and finally episiotomy with an OR: 3.5 and (p <0.01), compared to the use of forceps, it was shown in both groups to be similar, that is, the use or not of forceps alters the development for POP this was demonstrated with an OR: 1.5, which was not significant with a (p> 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The obstetric antecedents for the development of POP in our study were Multiparity, Fetal Macrosomia, Vaginal Delivery and Episiotomy. While the obstetric history such as the use of forceps was not a risk factor for developing POP.
