Estrategias para el uso óptimo de mascarillas N95 en el personal de salud frente al COVID-19

Abstract

La lucha contra el mortal Covid-19 tiene al personal médico y asistencial frente a la primera línea de defensa, siendo imprescindible el usar una máscara que los faculte para lidiar con menos miedo y ansiedad de contraer la enfermedad. Los respiradores N95 son los EPP que se usan con mayor frecuencia para controlar las exposiciones a infecciones transmitidas a través de la ruta aérea, aunque su efectividad depende en gran medida del ajuste y uso correcto. La forma óptima de prevenir la transmisión aérea es utilizar una combinación eficaz del EPP. El respirador N95 es el más frecuente de los siete prototipos de respiradores de máscara con filtro de partículas; con un 95% de filtración de las partículas en el aire, siendo vulnerable al aceite. De ello parte la responsabilidad e importancia de la elección de la mascarilla ideal y el seguro sistema de trabajo en salud.

The fight against the deadly Covid-19 has medical and assistance personnel in front of the first line of defense, being essential to wear a mask that empowers them to deal with less fear and anxiety of contracting the disease. N95 respirators are the PPE most frequently used to control exposures to airway-transmitted infections, although their effectiveness is highly dependent on proper fit and use. The best way to prevent airborne transmission is to use an effective combination of PPE. The N95 respirator is the most prevalent of the seven particulate filter mask respirator prototypes; with 95% filtration of the particles in the air, being vulnerable to oil. Hence the responsibility and importance of choosing the ideal mask and the safe health work system.
