Objective: The purpose of the study was to determine if prematurity is associated with atopic dermatitis in Children aged 2 to 7 years in external dermatology clinics of the Víctor Lazarte Echegaray Hospital. Material and methods: A case-control study was conducted, periods 2015 - 2017, with a sample size of 246 patients, who met the selection criteria, which were divided into two groups, of which 74 patients with atopic dermatitis in the group of case and 172 without atopic dermatitis in the control group, the Chi square test, Odds ratio, t sudent, was applied. Results: When performing univariate analysis, the variable cesarean section [OR 2,316 (95% CI: 1,326-4,045)], low birth weight [OR: 2,100 (95% CI: 1130-3904)], bronChial asthma [OR 5.327 (95% CI: 2.942-9.645)], acute rhinitis [OR 5.488 (95% CI: 2.892-10.413)] presentation statistical significance (p < 0.05) and were a predictor according to their OR. The sex female variables [OR 0.774 (95% CI: 0.448-1.337)] ,provenance urban [OR 0.776 (95% CI: 0.420-1.433)], and history of prematurity [OR 1.712 (95% CI: 0.97-3.02)] no statistical significance. With the multivariate analysis it was evidenced that the factors that came out significant for our study were asthma (p = 0.01, [ORa 3.54 (95% CI: 1.86-6.73)]), allergic rhinitis (p = 0.01, [ORa 3.60 (CI 95%: 1.79 - 7.21)]), cesarean section (p = 0.003; [ORa 2.35 (95% CI: 1.34-4.14)], and age (2 to 7) (p = 0.024; [OR 1.20 (95% CI: 1.02-1.42 ))]. Conclusions: The history of prematurity is an associated factor for atopic dermatitis in Children aged 2 to 7 years. Unlike the other intervening variables such as asthma, allergic rhinitis, cesarean section and low birth weight.
