To determine the relationship between malocclusion and psychosocial impact in adolescents aged 12 to 16 years, in Public and Private Educational Institutions. Material and Method: This descriptive, prospective, cross-sectional and observational study was evaluated in 126 students of the private school ““Jan Komensky““ and 121 of the public school ““Alfredo Tello Salavarria““. The Dental esthetics index (DAI) was used to evaluate the malocclusion, the PIDAQ questionnaire to determine the psychosocial impact on adolescents and the NSE level of socioeconomic status. Results: There is a significant relationship between malocclusion and psychosocial impact in the school ““Alfredo Tello Salavarria”(p = 0041). The prevalence of malocclusion in the public school in the male and female sex was 50%, respectively. The prevalence of malocclusion in private schools in males is 53% and in females it is 47%. The prevalence of malocclusion in the public school in the marginal stratum is 21%, in the lower stratum under 42%, in the upper low stratum 7%, in the medium stratum 1% and in the high stratum it is 0%. The prevalence of malocclusion in the public school in the marginal stratum is 21%, lower stratum under 44%, upper stratum under 35%, medium stratum 10% and in the high stratum is 0%. The psychosocial impact is not associated to the socioeconomic level, except in the CPED domain of the average socioeconomic level where the average was higher in the Public school and IS domain where the average was higher in the Private school. The psychosocial impact is not associated with sex, except in the CPED domain of the female sex where the average was higher in private school. Conclusion: We only find the relationship between malocclusion and psychosocial impact in adolescents from 12 to 16 years in the public school ““Alfredo Tello Salavarria““.
