Objective: Identify adolescence as a factor associated with pregnancy greater than 40 weeks. Material and Methods: An analytical, observational, case and control study was carried out from January 2008 to December 2017 in pregnant women of the Trujillo’s Teaching Regional Hospital. The sample, obtained by formula, was divided into 95 cases with pregnancy> 40 weeks and 95 controls. Results: In the bivariate analysis, within the characteristics of pregnant women, marital status and nulliparity presented statistically significant differences (p = 0.03, , p = 0.001 respectively), while the type of delivery, occupation, prenatal control, fetal macrosomia and sex of the product did not present them (p> 0.05). The prevalence of adolescence was 9.5%. Adolescence showed highly significant statistical difference (p = 0.001), with OR of 20.49 (95% CI: 2.67-157.40), being 17.9% in cases and 1.1% in controls. In the multivariate analysis, adolescence confirmed significant difference (p = 0.02, OR = 12.14 and 95% CI: 1,49-99,03), fetal macrosomia (p = 0.049, OR = 2.38 and 95% CI: 1,01-5,63) and nulliparity highly significant (p = 0.002, OR = 3.01 and 95% CI: 1.50-6.01). Conclusions: Adolescence is a risk factor for pregnancy greater than 40 weeks and we founded fetal macrosomia and nulliparity as an independent factor.
