To determine whether cervical cytology correlates with HPV typing in patients of the Red Asistencial EsSalud de La Libertad in 2021. Material and methods: A retrospective analytical, cross-sectional study was conducted in which 188 patients, who were attended in the Gynecologic Oncology service from Hospital de Alta Complejidad Vírgen de la Puerta, were included, according to selection criteria. Spearman’s coefficient was used to assess correlation. Results: Cervical cytology were correlated with HPV typing, obtaining a Spearman coefficient 0.407, with a p value of 0.001. This showed a significant correlation between HPV status and cytology results (p <0.05). As to the general characteristics of the study sample, 88% patients with negative cervical cytology, while 12% were positive, distributing them as LSIL (5.85%), ASCUS (4.26%), HSIL (1.06%%) and ACG (0.53%). Additionally, 7.5% patients showed HPV 16 infection, 11.2% showed other high-risk HPV infection, while 81,4% didn’t show HPV infection. On the other hand, from the 166 patients who showed negative cytology results, 21 (12%) showed high-risk HPV infection
