OBJECTIVE To determine the level of level of knowledge, attitudes and practices on photoprotection in adolescents of Costa and Sierra de Piurana. December 2019. MATERIAL AND METHODS Observational. Prospective. Cross. Design: Comparative Study. Secondary level students included two national colleges of the coast and Sierra Piurana. For the convenience of the census, the majority of students that can be surveyed were included. RESULTS Level of knowledge: Piura obtained a higher percentage of intermediate level 63.2%, high level 20.9.%, And low level 15.9%; in comparison with Canchaque that had 0% of high level, intermediate level 54.6% and 46.4% of low level. Attitudes Level: the unfavorable attitude predominates with 59%. The school of the coast has a 53.5% favorable attitude, while the highlands school has 78.7% of an unfavorable attitude towards photoprotection. Level of practices, 59% have an incorrect level of practices on photoprotection. The highlands school had 78.7% incorrect practices compared to that of the coast 54.3% correct practices. Of all students who have insufficient level of knowledge, 73% have incorrect practices. The differences between what they know and what they practice are statistically significant: chi2 of 37,103 and p <0.001.CONCLUSIONS A level of knowledge, attitudes and practices was found is better in the school of the coast than in the highlands school.
