Objective: Determine the level of knowledge and attitudes about child abuse in dentistry students at a university in Trujillo, in 2023. Materials and methods: Descriptive-cross-sectional study. 139 dentistry students from 7th to 10th cycle at the Antenor Orrego Private University were evaluated. Two questionnaires were applied, the first composed of 15 closed questions to evaluate knowledge and 10 Likert-type questions to evaluate attitudes and the second composed of 10 Likert-type questions; both previously validated obtaining Aiken's V 0.99 for the first and 1 for the second; Regarding reliability, the value obtained from the KR-20 coefficient was 0.81 for the knowledge questions and the Cronbach's alpha value was 0.83 for attitudes of the first and 0.94 for the second. To analyze the results, the Chi-square test was used, with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: It was found that 68.4% of the students had a regular level of knowledge, 15.8% had a good and bad level of knowledge respectively. 83.5% obtained a favorable attitude and 16.5% an unfavorable attitude. 10th cycle students obtained the highest percentage with a good level of knowledge and a favorable attitude, reaching 36.1% and 94.4% respectively. Conclusions: Conclusions: The level of knowledge about child abuse was predominantly regular, reaching 68.4% of those surveyed; 15.8% have a good level of knowledge and a bad level of knowledge respectively. Regarding attitudes, 83.5% presented favorable attitudes, while 16.5% expressed unfavorable attitudes
