The objective of the study presented below was to identify and contrast the state anxiety and trait anxiety on adults who did or did not obey the social isolation due to covid 19 pandemic in the city of Trujillo. A substantive research with a descriptive-comparative design was used 188 adults participated: 46.3% young adults, 42.6% adults of mature age and 11.2% adults of later age; women (51.1%) and men (48.9%); the contrast groups were made up this way: 47.3% obeyed isolation and did not obeyeded isolation (52.7%). The Anxiety Inventory, Trait - State (IDARE in spanish) was used. The results obtained reported a higher prevalence of moderate and mild levels in state and trait anxiety; in adults who obeyed isolation and in adults who did not obey isolation. It was also identified that state anxiety and trait anxiety are higher in adults who obeyed isolation than in adults who did not, reaching a statistically significant difference with a large effect size (p <.01; ghedges> .50).
