The present study was carried out with the purpose of identifying the relationship that exists between the level of adaptation to the NICT and the work performance of the digital immigrant communicators of the media of the city of Trujillo. Correlational research used the survey and the interview as techniques for collecting the data obtained; which were applied to a sample population of 63 digital immigrant communicators and 21 heads of television, print and radio media. According to the diagnosis, it is noted that digital immigrant communicators adapt more easily to the use of NICT, participating in constant training, as well as greater practice and experience in the field. In turn, it was found that the daily interaction with digital natives, contributes to their learning and therefore, to an improvement in their work performance; This is despite the fact that each one's work is in a particular way; that is, for the treatment of information, unlike the native, the digital immigrant has little agility in the handling of digital software which does not contribute to the immediacy that the medium needs. Otherwise, the data analyzed in relation to work performance reflect that the digital immigrant is committed to organizational objectives, participates regularly in activities and recognizes their work, despite the lack of incentives and motivation from the media. Finally, through the Chi-square test (x2) it is verified that the higher the level of adaptation with the NICT, the better the job performance of the digital immigrant communicators will be; that is, there is a significant relationship between both variables, based on the fact that currently the employees have a good level of adaptation to the use of the NICT and a satisfactory work performance. Likewise, in order to facilitate technological adaptation and improve work performance, strategies are formulated by encouraging the media to increase training, greater interaction with digital natives, participation in the media, among other proposals
